This Privacy Policy succinctly provides the manner in which a User’s data is collected and used by iRoot by its various services such as Music Service. By accessing the services provided by iRoot, a User agrees to the collection and use of their data by iRoot in the manner provided in this Privacy Policy.
The Policy does not apply to the procedures and practices followed by entities that are not managed, owned or controlled by iRoot or to the people that are not engaged, employed or managed by iRoot.
Applicability
This Privacy Policy applies to all of the current and future services offered by iRoot including but not limited to Music. However, it excludes services that have separate privacy policies and that are not incorporated in this Privacy Policy.
The services of iRoot can be used to share information and communicate with other people. When User shares information with iRoot, iRoot aspires to provide the User a platform to connect with other people and to make sharing information with others quicker and easier.
This Privacy policy covers the type of information collected by iRoot and the use of such information made by iRoot.
iRoot collects information to provide better services to all its Users.
User information is collected in the following ways:
iRoot receives data from or about the computer, mobile phone, or other devices the User uses to install to access iRoot, including when multiple users log in from the same device. This may include network and communication information, such as User’s IP address or mobile phone number, and other information about things like User’s internet service, operating system, location, the type (including identifiers) of the device or browser, or the pages visited. For example, iRoot may get User’s GPS or other location information; therefore, iRoot can indicate the User about any friends being nearby, or iRoot could request device information to improve how our apps work on their device. When iRoot gets User’s GPS location, iRoot puts it together with other location information iRoot has about the User. But iRoot only keeps it until it is no longer useful to provide services, like keeping User’s last GPS coordinates to send relevant notifications.
Use of Information Collected by iRoot
iRoot uses the information collected from all iRoot services to provide, maintain, protect and improve the services. This information is also used to create and develop new services and offer bespoke content.
iRoot processes personal information on its servers in India..
Transparency and choice
User can:
Users may adjust their browser settings to block all cookies. However, certain services may not function properly if cookies are disabled by User.
Information shared by User
Many of our services allow Users to share information with others. Remember that when User shares information publicly, it may be indexable by search engines, including iRoot. Our services provide User with different options on sharing and removing User content.
iRoot intends to provide forums, instant messenger and message boards and other services available to User. Information disclosed in these areas becomes public information. iRoot has no control over its use and shall not be liable for any loss or damage caused due to such disclosure.
Content distributed through iRoot’s sharing features and third-party integrations may also result in displaying some of User’s personal information outside of iRoot. For example, when User posts content to a iRoot Group that is open for public discussion, the content, including his/her name as the contributor, may be displayed in search engine results.
Third parties (for example, User’s email provider) may give the User the option to upload certain information in User’s iRoot contacts onto their own service. If User chooses to share his/her iRoot contacts, he/she will be granting his/her third party provider the right to store, access, disclose and use his/her iRoot contacts in the ways described in such third party's terms and privacy policy.
Accessing and Updating User’s Personal Information
Our aim is to provide User with access to User’s personal information on User’s usage of our services. If that information is wrong, iRoot strives to give the User ways to update it quickly or to delete it, unless iRoot has to keep that information for legitimate business or legal purposes. When updating personal information, iRoot may ask User to verify their identity before iRoot can act on their request.
iRoot may reject requests that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort (for example, developing a new system or fundamentally changing an existing practice), risk the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup systems).
Where iRoot can provide information access and correction, iRoot will do so for free, except where it would require a disproportionate effort. iRoot aims to maintain its services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, after User deletes information from our services, iRoot may not immediately delete residual copies from our active servers and may not remove information from our backup systems.
Rights to Access, Correct, or Delete User’s Information, and Closing of Account
User has the right to (1) access, modify, correct, or delete their personal information controlled by iRoot regarding their profile, (2) change or remove or edit his/her content, and (3) close their account.
On closing of account(s) by the User, their information will generally be removed from the Service within 48 hours. iRoot generally deletes closed account information and will de-personalize any logs or other backup information within 30 days of account closure.
Data Retention
iRoot retains the personal information that User provides while their account is in existence or as needed to provide them with services. Even after the closure of account by the User, iRoot may retain User’s personal information if retention is reasonably necessary to comply with iRoot’s legal obligations, meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes between Users, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. iRoot may retain personal information, for a limited period of time, if requested by law enforcement. iRoot's Customer Service may retain information for as long as it is necessary to provide support-related reporting and trend analysis only, but iRoot generally deletes or de-personalizes closed account data consistent, except in the case of our plug-in impression data, which iRoot will try to de-personalize at the time of collection, but in any event, iRoot will de-personalize within 30 days.
Information iRoot shares
iRoot does not share personal information with companies, organizations and individuals outside of iRoot unless one of the following circumstances applies:
iRoot may share aggregated, non-personally identifiable information publicly and with our partners – like publishers, advertisers or connected sites.
iRoot attempts to notify Users about legal demands for their data when appropriate in our judgment, unless prohibited by law or court order or when the request is an emergency. In light of our principles, iRoot may dispute such demands when iRoot believes, in its discretion, that the requests are overbroad, vague or lack proper authority, but do not commit to challenge every demand.
If iRoot is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, iRoot will continue to ensure the confidentiality of any personal information and notify affected users before their personal information is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Information security
iRoot works hard to protect it and its users from unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of information iRoot holds. In particular:
Instant messaging, and similar means of communication with other Users are not encrypted. iRoot does not recommend sharing of confidential information through such means.
Compliance and cooperation with regulatory authorities
iRoot regularly reviews its compliance with the Privacy Policy. iRoot also adheres to reasonable security practices and procedures to secure sensitive personal information that comply with the ISO 27001 standard or with the codes of best practices for data protection as approved by the Government.
Changes
Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. iRoot will not reduce User’s rights under this Privacy Policy without their explicit consent. iRoot will post privacy policy changes on its page and, if the changes are significant, iRoot will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, email notification of privacy policy changes). iRoot will also keep prior versions of this Privacy Policy in an archive for User’s review.
User’s Obligations
A User has certain obligations to other users. Some of these obligations are imposed by applicable law and regulations and others have become commonplace in communities of like-minded users such as iRoot. User must at all times:
Any violation of these guidelines or those detailed in our Terms of Service or elsewhere may lead to the restriction, suspension, or termination of User’s account at the sole discretion of iRoot.
